D'Ascenzo's Gelato: Experience the Rich Creaminess of Authentic Italian Gelato in West Chester

Holy crap was this place good!!! They had the best gelato state side I have ever had. Rules of gelato: #1. Stay away from places with the pretty, puffy clouds of gelato. The fluffiness comes from artificial thickeners and those huge mounds mean that they’re making lots of gelato in advance and reusing the leftovers each day. #2. If the colors are too bright, the gelato ain’t right. The high-octane colors mean lots of chemicals were used in the process. Have you ever tossed an apple in a blender, or a banana? Then you know they don’t come out bright green and bright yellow. One of the best tests is pistachio. If they serve bright green…move on!! These folks passed every test. I had the chocolate hazelnut and the pistachio. Outstanding!!! If you love gelato like I do. This is the place.

Haven’t tried other ice cream places in west Chester, so don’t have anything to compare to, but this amazing! Big selections of flavors. I got pistachio and white chocolate blueberry (not very sweet). My husband got dark chocolate. Very rich flavour, awesome! The best part is they have this lovely alley to sit and enjoy the ice cream! Would come back again! Also this would be a great place for a date, after a dinner! Also don’t mind the size of the lighter ice cream, I asked for a smaller scoop, otherwise they are very generous!

The best gelato in town, closes over the winter except special open days as posted. Big fan of their chocolate which is always a bit more dark and then mixing with a second flavor. Prices definitely a bit high but nice atmosphere and friendly service, the lines can get long on summer nights.

I was highly recommended to try this gelato spot. It’s an outdoor order/pickup type of joint. Very easy to access and fun selection of gelato flavors. You can try a sample of flavors. We went with the mocha espresso and the Belgian butter cookie. Both were delicious, creamy and not too sweet. Perfect amount of flavor! I found the small size portion to be perfect.

Really cute location and delicious ice cream. They have a variety of flavors too. It's a little pricey but you get what you pay for. There's little seating on the side of the shop with cute seats and flowers. Literally looks like Italy. Will definitely return since the weather is getting much warmer.

If you are out for a night on town, or simply out with the family, this is the place to go to end the night, unique daily flavors, awesome customer service, to an overall great experience, D’Ascenzo’s hits the spot This was the Peanut Butter Cookie Dough, and if you’re a peanut butter fan, this is the one for you.

Stopped here for dessert after a fantastic meal at a local restaurant. The Gelato was delicious. It’s homemade with fresh ingredients. We had the chocolate espresso and the pistachio. Both were delicious. The espresso ice cream taste was that came through was strong just the way we like it. The pistachio ice cream had a real flavor that other pistachio ice cream’s never have. The pistachio ice cream was the correct color which leads me to believe it was made with actual pistachios. It wasn’t green dye like others. The service was pleasant. The atmosphere was pretty. They had a few tables outside and down the alley filled with pretty fresh potted flowers.

Delightful little walk-up location. There is a cute as a button alley way decorated with florals to enjoy the delicious gelato. They have amazingly fresh hand crafted flavors and friendly service. Delizioso!
